Application engineer in practice: support, projects and smart solutions
Reading time: 4 minutes My name is Frank van Velzen, and since January 2025 I have been working as an application engineer at ATB Automation in...

In our conversations with customers, we hear what is happening in the world of machine building: there is a lot of pressure to develop faster and produce more flexibly, while costs must remain manageable. At the same time, many manufacturing companies are dealing with shortages of (technical) personnel while projects continue to come in.
All in all, it does not sound like a very positive story, does it?
That is not how I see it. Because wherever change takes place, new ideas and initiatives emerge. And especially in times when a lot is happening, we think it is important to be present where knowledge, experience and innovations come together. Taking advantage of the momentum and continuing to develop.
The Precision Fair in ’s-Hertogenbosch is such a place.
On November 18 & 19, many industry professionals (engineers, machine builders and technology partners) will travel to the Brabanthallen to dive deeper into the world of manufacturing and precision technology. ATB Automation will also be there, with a broad range of components for servo systems and linear solutions.
Contact with our customers almost always starts with a challenge. Or, to put it more directly: a set of requirements. These may be technical requirements such as specifications for dynamics and accuracy, installation constraints, and ultimately also cost price.
Our strength lies in the fact that customers can bring their challenge to us and have the component matching calculated by our specialists.
In doing so, we are always flexible and creative, and from our portfolio we deliver a good solution that fits exactly within the customer's requirements and budget.
An example of this is Lim-Tec, a very flexible supplier of linear technology with whom we have been building knowledge for several years and which we introduced to the market this year. Think of compact actuators with ball screws or roller screws.
Also new at the exhibition is the S5 motion controller from Leadshine, fully based on CODESYS Motion. CODESYS has now become a widely used international programming standard in industrial automation.
As a result, we and especially our customers can quickly translate motion applications and directly control our servo and linear systems with them.
Leadshine is also well ahead in the development of components for cobots and humanoid robots, such as Dexterous Hands and Integrated Actuators.
But not all suppliers are new. Renowned and loyal partners such as Stöber, Exlar and IAI are also known for their quality and very high specifications. Their latest developments will also be on display at the exhibition.
In short, November 18 & 19 is a great opportunity to meet and bring your challenge or machine project to our specialists.
Even if you have an extensive set of requirements!
